Built not to break
A module that floats
Inside a hollow case, the module (the heart of the watch) seems to float, so knocks from outside are softened before they reach it. The idea came from watching children play with a rubber ball.
The original, in analogue
The 2500 Series asks what the DW-5000C, the very first G-SHOCK, would look like reimagined today as a purely analogue watch. It keeps the octagonal case shape and blends the spirit of the 5600 with the octagonal styling of the 2100.
Depth in shadow
Casio built the series around a design idea called “Depth in Shadow”. The hands are finely textured and the dial is layered, so they catch the light and create ever-changing shadows, and you can read the time at a glance from where the hands sit.
Multi-Mission Date
A fan-shaped, three-cell window at 3 o’clock shows the date. It also shows the stopwatch’s elapsed time and setting information. Once you set the day, month and year, the calendar runs fully automatically, so there’s nothing to correct at the end of a month or in a leap year.
Toughness you can see
The tail of the small seconds hand carries the Shock Resist mark. It ticks with every passing second, a small reminder that the shock-resistant build is working the whole time.
Made at the mother factory
The analogue movement was developed just for this line and is made at Yamagata Casio, the factory known as the home of G-SHOCK. It keeps the shock resistance and 20-bar (200-metre) water resistance of the original.
2-year warranty

About G-SHOCK
G-SHOCK began with a dropped watch. Casio designer Kikuo Ibe saw a watch break when it fell, and proposed “a durable watch that would not break even if dropped”. The project set itself the “Triple 10” goal: survive a 10-metre drop, resist water to 10 bar and run for 10 years on one battery. The first G-SHOCK, the DW-5000C, arrived in 1983.
